The period of life from the age of 10 to 19 is known as adolescence. It is a distinct period in the development of the human being and a crucial one for laying the groundwork for long-term health.

Adolescents grow quickly in terms of their physically, thoughts, and social skills. Their reactions to the environment and their thoughts, feelings, and decisions are all impacted by this.

The health and well-being of children and adolescents have improved significantly over the last two decades. But problems still exist. Child and adolescents are still at risk from infectious diseases all across the world, and new health issues are on the rise, particularly in areas where poverty is a problem.

Child and adolescents around the world are at risk from mental health issues, mental retardation and impairments, injuries, and non-communicable. Millions of children and adolescents are also prevented from living and thriving due to unhealthy diets, sedentary lifestyles, substance use, and environmental dangers including air pollution. Numerous children are still growing up without access to sufficient health care, nutritious food, secure homes, and attentive caregivers.

There are 1.2 billion people in the world between the ages of 10 and 19 who constitute the largest set of adolescents in history. The effects of their growth and development are felt by future generations. Adolescents, especially the most disadvantaged, can grow to their full potential when they are helped by supportive families and compassionate, as well as by policies and legislation that are sensitive to their needs.

New networking, urbanization, poor diets, violent conflict, climate change, and migration are just a few of the issues that have an impact on the development of today's adolescents.

Adolescents now more than ever have the opportunity to improve their health and well-being, but many do not have access to the leading to sustainable, high-quality services, and safe environments they require to do so. By raising the priority of adolescent wellbeing, meaningfully engaging youth in all issues that concern them and fostering intergenerational solidarity, together we can make a World for All Ages.
